Kaa lun in The Hague offers an incredible Cantonese Chinese dining experience. The lotus dumplings and duck with crispy noodles were delightful, while the shrimps with noodles and spicy sour soup added a perfect touch of flavors. The restaurant's inviting ambiance and attentive service made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend Kaa lun for an unforgettable dining experience!

Kaa Lun Palace

A childhood place for me, it was my mom’s birthday so we went to doing the thing she loves the most -u003e Shopping.
When you are shopping you’ll get hungry, so we went to her favorite Chinese Dimsum place Kaa Lun Palace. Most of the time when I am in The Hague I don’t usually visit this spot, but it is her day so we went for it.

Food:
Kaa Lun Palace serves Dimsum and Chinese (seafood) specialties. We have ordered shrimp rice noodles (Ha Cheung Fun) white chicken feets (Feng Zhao) stuffed beancurd skin, shumai and custard bao (Lai Wong Bao) I think they haven’t changed the food at all..which is pretty good! The food still tasted the same as 13 years ago.

Service:
Well.. service.. I think the waiter liked his phone more than the his guests. Perhaps it was in the afternoon but I mean.. hello.. attention? Okay it is a Chinese restaurant so the standards might be different. They serve Coca-Cola in cans instead of bottles, I guess they have to compensate the money from drinks more than other restaurants. But it was expensive €3 for a can.

Atmosphere&Conclusion:
Our table and another one were the only tables so it was pretty sad for that day. I remember this place was so unbelievably crowed. They have not so much attention for you so I guess the tip won’t be a lot today from me. And they probably don’t care.
Ohwell my mom finally had her lunch so making her happy would make me happy aswell. But for the recommendations, I think there are other places near this place to visit, it is up to you.

Years ago I used to come to this place regularly, it used to be a second home for me, as the food used to be amazing and so was the service!

But, let’s talk about today’s experience after not visiting this place for the past 7 years.

It was an experience I’d rather forget to be honest. Let’s start with the service…
Disappointing, dull, unprofessional, a lack of any professionalism, kindness and interest.
I asked if we could all pay separately and the guy with light (dyed) hair answered rudely: ‘why would we want people to pay separately?’ Maybe because we might want it that way! They’d get the total amount, maybe even more in tips if having everyone pay separately. I called the situation ridiculous, and it sure is.

Let’s leave that aside and talk about the food…
The starters arrived way after the main courses… not right.
The main course arrived really quick. Peking Duck with pancakes and two times Chicken Nasi. They were pretty dull in taste, especially the duck, it was pretty cold already, and sauce for the pancakes tasted really strange, not the same I had in the past definitely.
The chicken nasi wasn’t any better, the taste was quite bland.
When we were pretty much nearly done with our mains, that’s when our starters arrived… also feeling very soggy, oily, and boring (the vegetarian spring rolls and pork meat). The chicken feet were just boring in taste, and from what we noticed they had totally forgotten about the two chicken feet we asked for, those two had been on the counter for quite a while and no one had the right mind to bring them before the main courses.

Stay away if you agree service is quite important, and definitely stay away if you’re looking for something good and tasty.

Deep fried squid and char siu bao are highly recommended! The siu mai was a bit disappointing as there wasn't enough pork. Reservations are recommended for this restaurant. The menu has pictures of every item with English, Chinese and dutch names underneath.

Surprisingly good with reasonable price.
I think just because it's located not on the main street, not many people know this place. But it's actually the food is better than the famous ones on the main street.
The chilli oil is so good and all the food that we ordered were all surprisingly good. Try the yangchow fried rice, peking duck, almond honey chicken. You wont disappointed.

This little gem is tucked away on Wagenstraat with the most delicious dim sum choices. We were 10 ladies from various backgrounds and the food was amazing. This was our second time visiting and they did not disappoint with either food or service. We’ll be back for sure.
