I got very disappointed during my last visit to Theemaas and since then will never step in this store again. The employee immediately asked me where I am from and started pushing into me: “why don’t you speak Dutch?”. I tried to avid this conversation, because I came there to buy coffee, not to get a nationalistic lesson. I started telling that I’m living here temporary while studying and planning to leave soon, but the employee kept pressing. He didn’t focus on what grind of coffee I need, so eventually my Delonghi was unable to run coffee through such thin grind. It’s better to focus on the quality of product instead of trying to give ideology lessons to customers.

Great loose leaf tea selection from small producers, not only from China and Japan, but also from less famous tea-producing regions in Nepal, Vietnam, Thailand or Tanzania. Really helpful and knowledgeable owners - don’t be shy, ask them for suggestions.

Didn’t try any of the coffee but I’m pretty sure they follow the same quality standards they have for their tea.

The owner and the lady are very kind and knowledgeable. First time here yesterday and I was amazed by their great selection of tea options, all with very high quality. (Highly recommend Formosa four season oolong tea - an exquisite mountain tea from Taiwan.) Best tea store in Rotterdam!

Loved this place. As always! I have been coming here for a few years, and they are always so helpful. I always buy coffee beans here and seriously the best coffee! Also lots of delicious tea variations. The couple who work there clearly love what they do, and love to share their passion. My go-to place for coffee and tea!

Our favourite place to go to get high quality tea! Theemaas offers a very wide selection of tea, so there's definitely something for everyone to choose from. The fine people of Theemaas really know their teas and can always give you good and honest advise. Highly recommended!

As a tea enthusiast, I am always looking for the best tea shops no matter where I go. I was being told this is the place to be, so I decided to pay a visit. Once we arrived at the shop, there's no other customer, the owner greeted us. As the conversation continued, I noticed that the owner was getting grumpy and for some reason I don't feel like we were welcomed there. I asked for one of the more expansive tea ( Darjeeling white) on purpose acted like I don't know usually how much the price is, the owner acted impatiently and gave out the vibe that he is wasting his time on us. He told us the price in such a condescending way that basically indicates he thought we don't have the money for it ( and FYI the price he asked for was 36 euros for 100g, lol, in my opinion is a bit too high for that tea he showed me, or maybe that was his way of scaring us off ??). My friend was asking me to leave because he felt very uncomfortable with how this man talked to us. It got worse..... further he asked what my budget is, like how much I want to spend on tea. Maybe this is a Dutch thing, haha, but it definitely rubs me the wrong way. I am sorry, I love spending money on good tea, but not in a shop where I don't feel welcomed. That's the moment I decided to leave without buying anything or will I ever return to this place. When looking back at this experience, we were being extremely polite from the start till the end. We left the store also in peace, no confrontation or whatsoever, but I felt extremely unease with this interaction. I just want to share my experience here, and maybe the owner will see this one day and he would reflect his behavior........or maybe he would be more considerate towards his future customers?
