We went here because someone in our group loves ships, navy, and water. By the end we all loved this museum. What a pleasant experience the exceeded our expectations. The ship outside was a little challenging for the elderly person in our group because of the walking up and down the stairs. The rest of the museum was well done for handicap access. Very interesting looking at the maps, sextants, and ship decorations.

Fabulous place to visit in Amsterdam, quiet & calm away from the madding crowd. The "Amsterdam" ship , a replica of a cargo boat lost just off the English coast at Sussex in s storm is amazing. Very hands on experience for young & old alike. The Royal Barge preserved in all of its glory is spectacular, used for state visits & Royal occasions last used in 1962 for Silver Wedding Anniversary celebrations of the Dutch Royal Family. Lots of tales and some video footage of Whaling Ships are terrifying but informative. Exhibits of figureheads & Tapestries are stunning & spellbinding. A lovely day spent away from the midday sun.

This possibly turned into one of my favorite visits. So much history but told in an intriguing way and such a huge great collection. I personally loved the room of all the model boats, the ship outside and the tale of the whale, but everything was great. The audio tour was a nice addition as well but didn't seem to always work, got some great souvenirs here.

Excellent museum with loads to see. There is plenty to read in English too, and an English audiotour for any international visitors who don’t trust their Dutch language skills! We spent a few hours here, and could easily have spent more if we had not been catching a train. The ‘Amsterdam’ ship reconstruction was particularly interesting, but we also enjoyed the other exhibits in the main building.

We did book in advance because it made life easy, but you could equally easily buy tickets at the desk. The staff were lovely, and they let us leave our big bags behind the desk, which was really helpful. They also have free lockers for smaller items.

It’s a nice place to understand the history of East India company. You get to see model of VOC ship, Atlas maps, instruments used for directions and orientation. Different models of Yatch are shown with details. Overall good experience.

A beautiful and interesting museum experience. The exhibits are well balanced between national maritime history and general world maritime history, including the dock which hosts some cool ships. Especially notable is the special nautical atmosphere created in part by the building itself and the well-done design. I recommend allocating 2-4 hours here.

Nice museum with a variety of things to see and do. They have divided these different subjects in an organised and smart way, which makes it easy to walk through the museum. The staff is friendly and approachable. You also have the possibility to eat, have a snack or drink and there are many toilets through the building. Very handy for the grandmothers +1!

Beautiful building integrated in canal landscape, it provides amazing views of the city. The museum is an excellent option to visit with kids, a lot of information about naval history and sea navigation. The price of the ticket is affordable and it also includes a visit to the ship outside.
There’s also a big patio with a restaurant on the first floor for a drink afterwards
